Annual Parish Meeting (13-5-13)
It was the Annual Parish Meeting at the Old School this evening and the guest speaker was Paddy Tipping.
Last year he was elected as the Nottinghamshire Police and Crime Commissioner. Not only was he able to describe his efforts to improve the efficiency of policing in Nottinghamshire, but he was also familiar with local problems.
His polite and entertaining presentation was then followed by a cups of tea and biscuits.
Then it was the turn of Parish Council Chairman, Alan Wilson, to open the meeting to villagers. Three people asked questions or raised points and these were answered by Alan, Parish Councillors and other people.

Where we live (22-4-13)
Now that the sunshine has appeared—for a day or two at least—we can appreciate the efforts of those villagers who have planted flowers in our Pinfold.

A New Village Landmark (17-4-13)
Walk by the Church up Fern Road and on the left, just before the Old School, is the newly created Diamond Jubilee Garden.
Today, members of the Gardening Club got down on their knees and took the first step into giving the Garden what it needs: flowers.
As you can see from the photos here, it is now looking lovely.
Gradually the whole garden will be planted, all thanks to the efforts of Village volunteers and the Parish Council that made the whole thing happen.
To think that not so long ago a house stood on this spot. More recently, the Village Brownie Group had a small garden on the same spot.
I wonder if, in a hundred years, the great grand-children of our own Village children will look at the Jubilee Garden and wonder how it all came to be? Just a thought.

Champions—now going for the double! (12-4-13)
Cropwell United football team have had a fantastic season. They have just become league champions (Division One in the EMPAL League) for the first time in their history and now they are aiming to complete the "double" by winning the EMPAL League Cup Final.
Cropwell will take on Arnold Old Boys, who look set to be Division 2 Champions. Both teams are currently the only unbeaten teams in the leagues. It looks like being a cracker of a game with both teams wanting to win a double!
The final is to be played at Carlton Town FC's ground at Stoke Lane (beside the Colwick Loop Road in Carlton) on Sunday May 5th, 11am kick off.
